Daily Bread

Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lordis with us. Do not fear them.” Numbers 14:9

Two groups of people stood before Moses from the 12 spies he had sent out into Canaan. One saw grasshoppers. The other saw bread. It is important to check where we stand before we inherit our promised land.

What we confess takes hold of what we see in front of us. Faith isn't just positive affirmation. But true faith is revealed in words of hope. The more we speak negatively about our destiny and promise, the more we see it as an impossible task.

The fact of the matter is if God promised it, He can fulfill it. We receive promises from God but try to fulfill the promise ourselves. This is how we end up speaking negatively when we should be praising joyfully. We cannot see the giants as bread if we continue to see ourselves as grasshoppers.

Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said,“Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” Numbers 13 :30

God had declared that the land belonged to the children of Israel. All they had to do was to obey His word and move forward to receive what belonged to them. But just like faith, even unbelief comes through hearing sometimes and hearing the words from our own mouths.

Glorify God instead. Make it a point as you start this month that we will not allow the enemy to steal our tongues for his use. Rather we will confess and declare the glories of our Lord.

In the end, just as our Lord promised, we will receive our daily bread.
