Faith and Focus
Two things we must hold on to as things spiral out of control are Faith and Focus.
Don't lose faith
The need of the hour is deep-rooted faith in who God is and what He has promised to do. God requires us to show Him our unwavering faith, despite the circumstances around us. All the storms that are raging are nothing but temporary blips on the journey of a faithful Christian.
It is not only in the pleasant breeze but within the tempests that God examines our faith. The nature of faith is that it believes in unseen things. It knows that impossible things will happen. It confirms that the end of the line is not the end of the story and God still can make a way.
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20
Don't lose focus
It is one thing to show great faith, it is another ordeal entirely to maintain that faith with unwavering focus. Our faith is not to be aimed at ourselves, or the things around us. Our source of hope is not what we can accomplish in our own strength or what the circumstances around us may bring.
A child of God does not believe in a lucky break or coincidence of good fortune. Instead, we hope in the Lord and our faith is focused on Him. Despite the unfamiliarity of our surroundings, we must continue to focus on the one who called us.
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14: 30
Look at Peter on the water, he started out with great faith. He was even able to walk a considerable distance on the waves in the middle of a storm. He began to sink when his focus shifted. When we digress from the will of God and focus on the situation around us, we will find ourselves sinking in the same situation God had called us to walk over.
Build your faith, but also make sure you don't lose focus.
