There is always a decision we ought to make on where our heart lies. The nature of man is to hold on to things for himself. We often fail to credit God as the blesser while we run behind the blessing.
There is a certain lifestyle that the world calls rich, successful & wise. But God terms the same foolish.
To help us understand this significance better, we have a very interesting passage in the book of Luke chapter 12: 16 – 21.
“The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ Luke 12:16,17
The individual referred to in this passage has no more space to store his grain. He decides to build larger warehouses. He had earned everything through his hard work. But he failed to understand the source of his blessings/strength - GOD.
When money/knowledge/position increases, we fail to understand that the source of our blessing is God. The God factor goes missing in our business/ personal life.
We must revisit our original intentions and examine ourselves regularly.
With time, have we shifted our priorities and our pillars of trust?
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God. Psalms 20:7
When we start putting our trust in man and not in God, we move away from the source of blessing towards the blessing. We forget that a man can receive nothing unless it is given to him from heaven.
When we stop involving God in our plans, we influence our future with our present situation. We fail to put God the giver of it all in the forefront of things. As in the passage – the man had everything and was bountiful that he had no space to store anymore, but he missed out on eternal life. Not because of his wealth, but because he allowed himself to center his life around it.
We learn today that our permanent treasure is in the Lord. Our joy should be in the relationship we build with Jesus.
May we prioritize to give prominence to the Lord who gives us everything we need and beyond what we deserve.
Every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:7
The presence of God in our lives brings assured blessings and security to our lives. So, the next time you feel glad that your storehouses are full, remind yourself that it was God who made it overflow.
