Are you scared of Giants?
What would you do if a tall, prodigious, intimidating, strong giant stands in front of you?
Would you run away or stand and fight?
There was one such giant, Goliath who challenged the Israelites to fight him. No one would do dare go near him except for the shepherd boy, David. He was not military-trained; he did not have any deadly weapons either. David didn’t need to know Goliath’s strength because he already knew God's power. He just carried the presence of God and knocked down the giant with a slingshot.
David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied” So, David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand, he struck down the Philistine and killed him. 1 Samuel 17:45,50
We all have giants to deal with in life. Maybe it's a giant of fear, a giant of addiction, financial crisis, health issues, or even the current covid-19 pandemic situation. As you look at this obstacle, this problem, this challenge, you are troubled, and you don't think you can ever overcome it. But understand, God is bigger than your giant. Put on the armor of God, the anointing he has given you, and slay the Giant.
Laban chased Jacob even after making him work for so many years. It seemed like he won’t let Jacob live in peace. Jacob trusted and held on to the Lord. God blessed Jacob and everything he had. The Holy Spirit will give you the strength, courage, and wisdom to slay any giant that comes your way. When you are a child of God, the enemy may come to taunt you, test you and break you. Hold on to the Lord and resist the evil one.
He will flee from you.
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7
All giants seem larger than they are. The day you try to take on your giant with your flesh, you will face defeat. Everybody else focused on the giant, but David focused on the Lord.
Be encouraged. The battle is the Lord’s. The giant you see today, you will not see tomorrow; for God has given you victory!
