Recipe for a Revival - Part 2
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Prayer is one of the main ingredients for the preparation of the revival. When we pray, we are meeting with God. It is only through purposeful prayer does our relationship with God blossom. It is the place where we can speak to God and hear him speak to us.
Lack of prayer causes a decrease in our reliance on God. Instead, we tend to pursue our own will and plans. This often leads us to disastrous consequences. The promise in 2 Chronicles affirms that one of the primary requirements for the healing of the land is for the people to not only humble themselves but also pray and seek the face of God.
Prayer must be continual and consistent in the life of every revival-seeking Christian.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart Jeremiah 29:13
Turn away from Wickedness
The final ingredient in the revival meal is abstaining from wickedness. We need to be in right standing with God. We have been called to live a Holy and pure life. Without holiness, we will never be able to see God move in our life.
We need to examine and search our hearts each day. As David prayed, we should let the Holy Spirit remove anything that is a stumbling block between us and the will of God being fulfilled in our lives.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalms 51:10
We should cultivate a habit of confession and repentance. When we truly repent of our sins, we renew our relationship with God. If you find in yourself, anything that God is displeased with, make haste to remove it from your life. On repentance, the grace of God will sustain you in your weakness.
If we persevere in humility and prayer, continually seeking the face of God while turning away from everything that displeases him, He has promised to hear us and will surely heal our land.
